    FLSA STATUS: Exempt

    WORK CALENDAR: 260/261 days

    COMPENSATION: Administrative Compensation Guide (Starting Salary $75,771)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Oversee the operations and development of the department including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, and conducting regular assessments of procedures
    2. Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g. hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, setting workload etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel, and ensuring department/program outcomes are achieved
    3. Coordinates the payroll process with other departments and schools for the purpose of delivering services in accordance with established guidelines
    4. Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
    5. Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
    6. Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
    7. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
    8. Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
    9. Processes and reconciles payroll vouchers
    10. Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures
    11. Researches discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. time sheets, leave time, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing
    12. Prepares and submits of a variety of payroll related reports (e.g. 941, state retirement, payroll register, W-2s, etc.) for the purpose of governmental and agency compliance requirements
    13. Communicates effectively with internal and external parties for the purpose of ensuring accurate payroll processing and reporting
    14. Responsible for system set-up and updates, maintenance of data, as well as employee related training for the district’s timekeeping system
    15. Attends various meetings as required by the District to remain current with compliance issues to provide adequate direction to staff
    16. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues
    17. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community
    18. Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner
    19. Maintain punctual and regular attendance
    20. Perform other related duties as assigned
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    Education / Certificate
    1. Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required or equivalent expertise
    2. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
    Experience
    1. Three to five years of related experience required
    2. Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
    3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    4. Strong supervisory and leadership skills
    Communication Skills
    1. Strong writing, literacy, and communication skills; uses effective communication strategies to interact with a variety of audiences
    2. Bilingual communication is beneficial
    Computer Skills
    1. Knowledge of Google Suites
    2. Proficient with payroll software
    3. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
