    JOB DESCRIPTION – Skilled Maintenance- Electrician

    TITLE: Skilled Maintenance- Electrician FTE: 1.0

    FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt HOURS PER DAY: 8 WORK CALENDAR: 261 days

    COMPENSATION: Classified Non Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting at $25.55/hour)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. To perform skilled electrical work in the operation, repair, alteration and maintenance of school buildings, grounds, facilities or equipment and other related work as required

    2. Is responsible for Electrical maintenance and repairs throughout the District

    3. Reads, interprets, and updates blueprints, drawings and diagrams

    4. Establishes and maintains records of equipment condition and performance

    5. Performs routine service and inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair

    6. Performs electrical work and is responsible for safe and industry-standard work practices

    7. Oversees major construction, repairs and overhauls that may be contracted out and performed under the oversight of this position

    8. Ensures all codes are implemented in the completion of maintenance and repairs

    9. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools

    10. Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications

    11. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem

    12. Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets

    13. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes

    14. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors

    15. Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes

    16. Maintain current electrician’s license or identification card to meet governmental regulations

    17. Complies with Safety Rules and Regulations and satisfies OSHA requirements

    18. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues

    19. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community

    20. Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner

    21. Maintain punctual and regular attendance

    22. Perform other related duties as assigned



    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications for this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    Education / Certificate

    1. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and technical training in electrical construction/maintenance

    2. Must possess a valid Arizona driver license

    3. Must have an exemplary driving record with no more than 8 points in the past 24 months or repeated violations in the past 10 years. Proof of driving record must be obtained from the Motor Vehicle Department annually

    4. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

    Experience

    1. Must possess a journeyman equivalent level of knowledge in electrical equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities

    2. Must have five years of experience in electrical maintenance/construction

    3. Must possess working knowledge of building and safety codes

    4. Must possess the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks assigned

    5. Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire

    Communication Skills

    1. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to understand and carry out written and oral instructions

    2. Establish and maintain appropriate interpersonal relations with staff

    Computer Skills

    1. Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in complex systems

    2. Must possess knowledge in the use of computers and building management systems software

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
