    TITLE: Paraprofessional– ELL FTE: 0.875

    FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt HOURS PER DAY: 7

    WORK CALENDAR: 195 days

    COMPENSATION: Classified Non Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting at $17.68/hour)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. To assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively

    2. Be willing to carry out a teacher’s objectives for the lessons taught

    3. Support the teacher’s classroom expectations/discipline rules

    4. Assist with the Written Individual Compensatory Plan (WICP) development process

    5. Coordinate meetings between teachers and parents

    6. Offer individual or small group instructional support for English language learners

    7. Assists with the administration of the English proficiency assessment

    8. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues

    9. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community

    10. Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner

    11. Maintain punctual and regular attendance

    12. Perform other related duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    Education / Certificate

    1. Associate of Arts degree or completion of paraprofessional certification required

    2. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

    Experience

    1. Prior experience working with high school students desired

    2. Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire

    Communication Skills

    1. Must possess a positive attitude towards students, teachers, staff and parents

    2. Must be bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English

    Computer Skills

    1. Must possess basic computer and clerical skills
