    JOB DESCRIPTION – Food Service I

    TITLE: Food Service I (Full/Part Time) FTE: .8125/.63

    FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt HOURS PER DAY: 6.5/5 WORK CALENDAR: 195 days

    COMPENSATION: Classified Non Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting at $16.54/hour)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. This position performs general food service, food preparation, and food service sanitation, according to the Arizona State health code regulations, fulfilling the dietary needs of students and faculty with adequately prepared meals. Position requires cashiering with accountability for reimbursable meals and ala carte items

    2. Excellent customer service skills

    3. Assists in the preparation of food

    4. Prepares meals from standardized recipes including cold and cooked salads, gelatins, salad dressings, and beverages also includes basic cooking such as hamburgers, chicken patties, etc.

    5. Sets up and replenishes serving lines

    6. Serves students and faculty in a friendly manner

    7. Maintains the trash collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion

    8. Washes equipment, pots, pans, and serving utensils

    9. Operates various kitchen machines when necessary (mixers, blenders, ovens and slicers, etc.)

    10. Removes used dishes and assists in the cleaning of counters, tables, and furnishings in the dining area

    11. Performs similar duties for special meal occasions and catering, as needed.

    12. Complies with Safety Rules & National School Lunch Program Regulations and OSHA requirements

    13. Operates the cash register

    14. Assists in counting and preparing monies and necessary paperwork for daily deposit

    15. Orders food service supplies, as needed

    16. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues

    17. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community

    18. Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner

    19. Maintain punctual and regular attendance

    20. Perform other related duties as assigned

    Education / Certificate

    1. Must have or be able to obtain within thirty days of employment start date a County Certification for food handler (renewed every 3 years)

    2. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card



    Experience

    1. Must have mathematical ability to work with monies and operate cash register and related business machines as requested

    Communication Skills

    1. Friendly and respectful to students and staff

    2. Must have the ability to read and write simple instructions

    Computer Skills

    1. Must possess general knowledge in the use of office machines and computers
