Until Filled To assist site staff and parents requesting service regarding Special Education records and students in the program
Greets and assists students and parents entering the Special Education Office for registration
Provides information concerning programs and procedures to students, parents, and the public according to prescribed protocol
Answers phones, screens calls, and relays messages to Special Education staff
Creates/maintains files of Special Education records for each student according to District protocol.
Creates/maintains a database of all Special Education students at each school site and prepares reports as required
Assists with scheduling student/parent appointments, IEP’s and 504 meetings
Calls/researches other information on students new to the school site
Translates for students and parents, (if bilingual) as needed
Assist teachers with meeting notices and documentation required for IEP and 504 meetings
Provides student’s teachers with individualized educational plans in order to assist with compliance
Secures timesheet signatures from paraprofessionals and department chair
Prepares paraprofessional schedule
Maintains quality control of IEP’s before sending to District office
Processes teacher supply requests
Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues
Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community
Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner
Maintain punctual and regular attendance
Perform other related duties as assigned

Education / Certificate 1. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card Experience 1. Must possess an ability to deal effectively with matters of confidentiality. 2. Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with parents, students, staff and the general public. 3. Ability to function in stressful situations and respond with tact, composure and courtesy when dealing with others. 4. Ability to acquire and apply information in related references (e.g., Governing Board policies and regulations, ESS procedures). 5. Must be self-directed and capable of working in a collaborative decision-making management system. 6. Must possess a pleasant personality and telephone manner. 7. Must possess a loyalty to the school district and its philosophy. 8. Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire. Communication Skills 1. Biliterate/bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred. 2. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Computer Skills 1. Must possess the ability to operate a computer and standard office machines. 2. Must possess ability to use or learn to use Individual Education Plan (IEP) software 3. Ability to operate computer hardware and software in use in ESS at time of and adopted after hire (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and iVISIONS).
