    JOB DESCRIPTION: Accounting Specialist

    TITLE: Accounting Specialist FTE: 1.0

    FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt HOURS PER DAY: 8

    WORK CALENDAR: 261 days

    COMPENSATION: Classified Non Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting at $21.50/hour)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Processes Accounts Payable

    2. Process checks as received

    3. Reconcile account statement

    4. Assemble and review invoices to be completed for payment

    5. Maintain copies of vouchers, in voices or correspondence necessary for files

    6. File and maintain records

    7. Obtain proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments

    8. Verify invoices against purchase orders and ensure goods or services were received before issuing payment to vendors

    9. Follow-up with vendors and end users who have open purchase orders

    10. Maintains knowledge of Arizona Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR)

    11. Assist in the effective administration of the AFUHS District’s financial accounting operations.

    12. Assists in District’s financial audits

    13. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues

    14. Provides a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community

    15. Performs responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner

    16. Maintain punctual and regular attendance

    17. Perform other related duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications for this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required

    Education / Certificate

    1. Associate’s Degree or equivalent accounting experience

    2. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

    Experience

    1. Knowledge of and/or experience in a school business office environment; knowledge of fiscal procedures preferred.

    2. Knowledge of USFR and Chart of Accounts preferred.

    3. Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire

    Communication Skills

    1. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    2. Bilingual communication is beneficial.

    Computer Skills

    1. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and standard business equipment.

    2. Knowledge of computerized accounting software; knowledge of Visions software preferred.
