    TITLE: Occupational Therapist
    FTE: 1.0
    FLSA STATUS: Exempt HOURS PER DAY: 8
    WORK CALENDAR: 213 days
    COMPENSATION: District-Based Professional Support (Starting $73,638)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Provides occupational therapy services to students in the district.
    Provides evaluations of student’s physical, mental developmental, and emotional abilities.
    Consults with the educational staff and recommends courses of treatment.
    Recommends modifications for a student’s classroom experience and program activities.
    Meets regularly with students, staff, parents and medical personnel
    Upholds professional standards; state and local statutes; and District policies and guidelines.
    Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of all students and meetings with parents and school staff.
    Provides appropriate classroom and program modifications and monitors students’ progress as needed.
    Provides a continuity of care upon transfer or graduation.
    Provides or makes referrals for follow-up care.
    Participates in the creation and modification of student’s individualized educational plan (IEP).
    Develops a comprehensive therapy plan with specific goals and interventions for student needs.
    Participates in IEP conferences when appropriate.
    Provide staff education and in-service training related to specific student needs.
    Maintains confidentiality of students, family, and school staff records.
    Participates in hiring assistants and aides who will work closely with students under the care of the OT.
    Evaluates all personnel under the OT’s supervision.
    Performs responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.
    Performs all other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
    To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications for this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required

    Education / Certificate
    1. Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, master’s degree preferred
    2. Possession of a current license to practice as an occupational therapist
    3. CPR, AED and Basic First Aid Certification Card
    4. Current and valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)

    Experience
    1. Two years experience in an education setting preferred
    2. Exhibits integrity in applying the ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school services, including honoring confidentiality.
    3. Ability to explain the educational needs of students in terms that can be easily understood by parents and other appropriate personnel.

    Communication Skills
    1.Strong writing, literacy, and communication skills; uses effective communication strategies to interact with a variety of audiences
    2. Bilingual communication is beneficial

    Computer Skills
    1. Knowledge of Google Suite
    2. Technical experience with Excel and PowerPoint
