    POSITION DESCRIPTION: Accounting Specialist
    Range: 42
    $14.40 - $19.87

    I. General Description:

    To assist in the effective administration of the AFUHS District’s financial accounting operations.

    II. Qualifications:

    1. Associate’s Degree or equivalent accounting experience.

    2. Knowledge of and/or three to four year’s experience in a school business office environment; knowledge of fiscal procedures preferred.

    3. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and standard business equipment.

    4. Knowledge of computerized accounting software; knowledge of Visions software preferred.

    5. Knowledge of USFR and Chart of Accounts preferred.
    6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    III. Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Maintains punctual and regular attendance.

    2. Maintains knowledge of Arizona Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR)

    3. Responsible for the maintenance of district bank accounts

    4. Reconciles District checking accounts

    5. Maintains District’s General Fixed Asset database

    6. Processes journal entries

    7. Responsible for fund account reconciliation to the County Treasurer

    8. Prepares and submits Treasurer’s deposits and cash transfers

    9. Assists in District’s financial audits

    10. Compiles and processes Medicaid and MIPS reports

    11. Monitors and maintains District Gift and Donation Fund

    12. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues.

    13. Provides a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community.

    14. Performs responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.

    15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    FLSA – Non-Exempt
